Great burger/sandwich joint with delicious food, a nice patio area, friendly service, and a chance (however small) to get your meal for free! I had the mushroom swiss burger and my girlfriend got the sliders, both were great. They have a few beers on tap, as well as several other drink options. When you order, the employee spread a deck of cards and told us to pick one, if you get the joker you get to eat for free! For me, that adds an extra element to an already great restaurant that puts it over the top. If I lived in Sac, it would be one of my favorites.

After a bike ride from Discovery Park, my cousin and I stopped at Skip’s with big appetites, and we were in for a treat. The customer service was incredible. Right at the counter, they pull out a deck of cards and give you a shot at picking a Joker for a free meal, such a unique, creative touch that makes you want to come back. Skip himself came out to the dining area, refilled our sodas multiple times (even though there’s a self-serve fountain), introduced himself, chatted with us, and on our way out, his son held the door open for us. It felt like stepping into a 1950s–60s burger joint where you’re treated like family, and this was our first visit! The burgers? Absolutely top-notch! Quality meat, perfectly presented, and honestly looked even better than the pictures, how often does that happen? This was hands-down the best burger joint and one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Skip and his family have earned us as return customers, and I hope visiting becomes a regular tradition. 10/10.

Beef Wellington bites and sliders were awesome and had good sauce. I usually get a burger with more toppings but wanted to see how the original stands up on its own. It was pretty good! Kids meal is really good price too. Definitely worth the 1/2 hour drive we made to try it.

We found our new burger restaurant! To quote Skip “I like and make a 3 napkin burger” he was spot on! So juicy and flavorful. The burger sauce is addicting. Best part of our meal was the conversation with Skip and his employees. All super nice and genuinely want to make sure you’re having the best dining experience. We are customers for life and know every visit will be up to the high standards we experienced on our first visit. Next in our list is to try the pastrami sandwich.

The food was amazing! I had a veggie burger, so delish, including the bun! Amazing customer service even though there was a line out the door (because it's so good). The curly fries and sweet potato fries are top notch (I wish they would give more with the burgers). The shakes are thick and tasty! Its a tiny place though with a tiny parking area. We ordered our food to go because I felt too claustrophobic. Would definitely order again and look forward to it!

Wow wonderful service here and the food is amazing. They hand out playing cards as table numbers and if you get the joker the meal is on them. Amazing restaurant but if you come here at a busy time expect to wait a while for the food, totally worth it and I’ll be back for sure!!

Everything is excellent. Not only is everything delicious, it is consistently so; I have now been here twice, and it was excellent both times. First off, the salad. When my wife suggested we get salads, I was very hesitant as one does NOT get a good salad at a burger joint. However, it was delicious. They clearly have very fresh heads of lettuce, and the dressing tasted home-made and absolutely delicious. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but they have an amazing caesar salad that is entirely worth getting! Next, the burgers: third-pound monsters with fresh buns, excellent and juicy patties, and the toppings are perfect. I had a western bacon cheeseburger, and it had a TON of bacon, the right amount of sauce, and the cheese was perfect as well. It's a burger, not fine dining, but it was absolutely phenomenal in the way only a burger can be. Next, the fries. Always waffle cut, which is fine, I prefer them extra crispy, so that is how I ordered them. I'd never considered how clever it is to use waffle fries for garlic fries, but wow, they kept all the garlic and parmesan on with each bite. This actually is, in my opinion, the best set of fries in the state of California, and I have tried all the best ones on SF, some in LA, and all around the greater Bay Area. Finally, dessert: we both dug into them before I remembered to get a shot, but I have to say that their snickerdoodle with candied walnuts, caramel & ice cream is just SO good. Is this the best place to get dessert? No, but it is worth getting if you are in the Sacramento area, just not the whole of California. Final note: Skip, don't change ANYTHING about the burgers or fries. Also, maybe warm up the cookies before serving them? The chocolate chip cookie would have benefited from that, but that's not really a big note- I just like gooey hot cookies.

With only our second visit to Skip’s, this spot has quickly become a favorite of ours. The food hits perfect, and will require you to try the whole menu for scientific purposes 😎. This place starts busy from the time they open, so get there early. The staff was great, and check in on you frequently. We will be back 🔥🔥

5-Star Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Skip's Kitchen food never disappoints! The burgers and sliders were juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The buns were soft and fresh, and the toppings tasted high quality. I loved the sweet potatoe fries. The service was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, but a bit on the warmer sided and crowded. We'll definitely be back for more. Highly recommend! Thank you.
